Just after World War II the world is again embroiled into a different kind of war a "war of nerves" - The Cold War - an event of political and military tensions (of which could have led to a more destructive war) between the Western world and the Communist bloc. A long conflict that would be later on be fought through a series of worldwide 'proxy wars', political pressures, the Arms race and the Space race. The clip you see is during the Berlin Crisis of 1961. Soviet tanks and American tanks face-off at Checkpoint Charlie as the USSR demands the withdrawal of Western armed forces from West Berlin. The result was erection of the Berlin Wall cutting West Germany from East Germany. |
